QUESTIONS & ANSWERS.
Children can bring a cake or cupcakes to school on their birthday for their class. This will be shared after our regular snack time. Parents are welcome to join us for singing and blowing out of candles, after consultation with the teacher.
WHAT DO WE PACK FOR SNACK TIME?
Please pack a snack for your child with a juice or water in a bottle that won’t leak. No junk food or yogurt is allowed! We suggest a sandwich and some small finger foods. A fruit per day is collected in the fruit basket in the office, these are peeled and cut together and made available for the children on the playground.
Children who stay for after care need to bring their own lunch. This can be placed into the fridge in the kitchen if necessary in a marked container and it will be heated for your child at lunchtime. Yoghurt can be sent to school for aftercare.
MAY MY CHILD BRING TOYS OR A COMFORT TO SCHOOL?
New toddlers must please bring their comfort (dummy, teddy, etc) along until they have settled. Rest assured that we will let you know if they don’t settle after you leave.
No toys may be brought from home to school. It causes a great deal of unhappiness amongst the children, resulting in fighting, broken and stolen toys. Any toys brought from home will be confiscated and we cannot take responsibility for any toys going missing or for the breakage thereof.
If children are found deliberately breaking toys, they will only sit in the Thinking Chair the first time. The second time they deliberately break a toy, they will sit in the Thinking Chair and the broken toy will be sent home, to be replaced with one of their own. We aim to teach them respect for other and their own property – we obviously need our parent’s co-operation in this regard.
DOES THE SCHOOL TAKE ‘SCHOOL’ PHOTOGRAPHS?
Individual school photos as well as class photos are taken annually in the third or fourth term. You will be notified in advance as to the dates the photographs will be taken. Samples will be sent out on Whatsapp for ordering through the office.
We have a website and Facebook page and we take photos to use on it. The purpose of this is to engage with parents in a fun, informative and interactive manner, recognise pupil achievement and promote the school within the local community. We have changed the way we use these images by hiding the children’s faces. If you still have any objections to your child’s photos appearing on the internet, please indicate this on the indemnity form that you will be requested to sign annually. We request that you, as a parent, do not redistribute photos that are posted on the WhatsApp Class Groups without the parents’ permission.
DO WE NEED TO BRING A BAG, HAT, BOTTLE….?
Parents must please provide a big enough school bag for their child for their belongings to fit in. Please pack a change of clothes into your child’s bag everyday – accidents happen!
We appeal to you and would appreciate it if you would mark all items with your child’s full name. This includes juice bottles, shoes, clothing, hats, lunch boxes etc.
We cannot take responsibility for any articles going missing or for the breakage of such articles.
Please check the lost property box in the office on a regular basis.
Clothes left there for longer than a term are donated to underprivileged children.
We request that you leave a marked hat at school for use everyday – no hat, no outside play!
HOW DO WE KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE?
COVID PROTOCOLS ARE IN PLACE UPON ARRIVING SO CHILDREN WILL BE SCREENED AND WELCOMED AT THE GATE BEFORE BEING ESCORTED TO THEIR CLASSES BY A STAFF MEMBER.
Parents are requested to deliver their children personally to their classroom in the mornings.
Please ensure that all gates are closed during entrance and exit. NO Footsteps Children are allowed to press the buttons to open the main gate and all gates MUST be closed behind you. Please notify the school of any changes to the person collecting or dropping off your child.
